This was an extraordinary experience for me. the hosts are Brahmin Hindus. The home itself is about 300 years old and belonged to a very famous Malayalam cartoonist until it was bought by the current owners. I felt as though I was part of the family and these highly intelligent people were more than willing to share their culture, information about their religion and their lives with me. The father is a sanskrit scholar, the wife a published writer and their adult son is an ecologist. I was able to arrange a temple tour complete with a driver as well as bathing one of the nearby orphan elephants. The food also was also delicious and it was prepared by various members of the family. One of my experiences was to meet a young Malayam yogi master on his way to Germany at one of our meals together. I learned a lot about the history of the area. The room was comfortable and clean as was everything else in the home.
